While nothing can bring back the countless Black Lives lost to police brutality including George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and many others have served as a catalyst as protests grow larger internationally.

In more cases than not the protests have increased tensions between militarized police and civilians, whereas other areas have embraced the idea of change, forging a better future. Minneapolis seems to be one of these places, after far too much hurt.

Following a City Council meeting, the City of Minneapolis has decided to disband their police force. Council representative Jeremiah Ellison said,

"We are going to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department. And when we’re done, we’re not simply gonna glue it back together. We are going to dramatically rethink how we approach public safety and emergency response. It’s really past due."

City Council members cited only a 56% murder solved rate in 2019 and 22% rape solved rate among the growing discontent with the all to violent cops on force as reasons for the dissolution.

While it will take time for the wrongs to right, the Dreamville Rapper J. Cole to recognize the impact of the movement. Cole shared the article via Twitter saying "Powerful powerful."

J. Cole has been out protesting in person himself in North Carolina, minimizing the divide between his people. Peep his tweet below and let us know what you think.
