2Pac Shakur, or Tupac Shakur is perhaps the most polarizing figure in hip hop history. If you don’t know his name, get out. Do your research and come back, this legend defined a genre and changed society through both his actions and verses. Early life for Tupac was rough- growing up in the Harlem, he was surrounded by Black Liberation Army and Black Panther activists, many of whom helped shape his political ideologies that would find outlet in his verses later on. Attending a Baltimore school for the Arts, Shakur developed his thespian ability, worked on acting a Jazz, that may have later helped him broker a truce between the notorious Bloods and Crips of California.

Spending time selling drugs, 2Pac came to understand the impact narcotics had upon a young generation, and worked fervently within the his circles to set up a code on the streets, that helped keep younger kids away from that life and giving them a chance for more. His political ideologies and some would say life work made its way onto his albums and tracks, such as Changes and 2Pacalypse Now.
