Hip hop and strange friendships are no strangers to each other. Look at Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart. Killer Mike and Bernie Sanders. Eminem and Elton John. For those whom aren't in the loop, Elton John was essentially Eminem's mentor. As Marshall Mathers struggled with drug addition, Elton was a musical consummate compatriot who helped guide Em back onto a stable path.

Elton has a number of hilarious Eminem stories, and the last time they collaborated on a song was a live performance of Stan at the 2001 Grammy's. After performing "Lose Yourself at the 2020 Grammy's, Eminem had a chance to get back in touch with his former mentor backstage.

Honoring his "Uncle Elton," Eminem posted out a heartfelt Gram with the two of them together - "I got to see my Uncle Elton tonight at the Oscars. Congrats on your win too, Sir."

Sir Elton John pulled Slim Shady out of the pits of despair and severe addiction so he could rise up, raise his daughter(s) and the roof with his performance of his Oscar winning song Lose Yourself.
